“In a Lifetime,” 2009

The idea for this piece is the realization that during our lifetime we experience many lives, not just one. Our life is made up of a tapestry of countless experiences that come to define who we are. The central red heart represents our true self which at all cost we must preserve and never lose touch with during our lifetime. In a Lifetime was first shown at Cedarhurst Center for the Arts, Mitchell Museum, Mount Vernon, Illinois in 2009. The concept for the group exhibition came from Paul Sasso, who approached the Center during a building project there. Paul’s idea was to use the felled trees that made way for the new building in a creative way. Each invited artist would be sent material to make a piece for the exhibition at Cedarhurst. There were no guidelines: just make what you want. I chose to make the hearts.

The work below was exhibited in galleries & museums and/or are commissioned installations.
